  • Notes
    • Mrs. Henry Paul
Amelia H. Johnson was born at Tecumceh, Michigan, March 13, 1837. With her parents she moved to Jones county, Iowa, about the year 1854. She was married to Henry Paul Esq. of this township, October 18th, 1860. They resided on a farm in this township up to about ten years ago when they rented their farm and moved to Onslow where they have since made their home. Some months ago Mr. and Mrs. Paul went to Parkersburg, Iowa, to visit a daughter, Mrs. Nettie D. Miller. While there Mrs. Paul was taken sick and after a few days illness departed this life on Sept. 5th, 1900. Her remains were brought to her home in Onslow and funeral held on Friday, Sept. 7th, Rev. VanBuren officiating, and the remains laid at rest in the Wyoming cemetery.
The deceased was for many years a member of the M. E. church, a woman of rare attainments and virtues. She was a busy woman and for a number of years after locating in Onslow conducted a millinery business. She was ever a kind neighbor, an affectionate wife and mother, leaving many mourning friends. She also leaves surviving her to mourn her loss her aged husband, Henry Paul, one son, Norman J. Paul, a daughter, Mrs. George Miller of Parkersburg, Iowa, and four grandchildren in Ohio, children of Mrs. Nina P. Coburn, deceased. Her surviving brothers and sisters are Mrs. Caroline Utts of Lyons, Mrs. Hattie Bartholomew of western Iowa, Mrs. Susie Byerly of Anomosa, James Johnson of Canton, and John T. Johnson, of Onslow.
