Notes - Joseph served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He first served in the 32nd Ohio Infantry and then spent some time in the 14th Ohio Artillery. His military units engaged in several important conflicts during the war.
William & Elizabeth (Rice) Coburn moved into Miller County in the years following the Civil War. Joseph M. Coburn, a brother to William, had settled in the Ulman Ridge area of Glaize Township before 1870. In his household in the 1870 census was his wife Elizabeth (Pumphrey) and a daughter, Minnie.

Find a Grave shows Minnie as a daughter of Joseph and Ella Mae Graham Coburn, but Ella Mae died in 1902. Minnie was born in 1867, and Ella was born in 1878.
